Dining on a Private Island in Belize

| clicks: 805 | Resort News

Dining in Belize is never short of a delicious mix of culture and tradition with each delectable dish created. From the traditional rice and beans, to the exotic lionfish, each dish is sure to spark the taste buds of even the pickiest eater.

The Lionfish Grill at Ray Caye Resort, located on a private island just south of Placencia Village, offers a variety of unique and tasty meals. Dishes are prepared with the freshest seafood, local produce and herbs, some of which are grown in the organic garden on the island, as well as freshly baked goods. The signature dishes at the restaurant features the invasive but delicious lionfish, for which the restaurant was named. Ray Caye Resort partners with the Belize Lionfish Project and helps control the lionfish populations with these flavorsome dishes.

Dining on a private island in Belize highlights not only the delicious meals but the uncrowded seating, breathtaking island views, and the option of private dining pretty much anywhere on the island, including but not limited to the poolside, covered pier or seaside. With only a limited number of guests on the island at a time, there is no need to worry about reservations or arriving on time to get seating at the restaurant.

The Lionfish Grill at Ray Caye is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner to guests staying at the resort, as well as visitors passing through. The bar is open from 7am until and offers an array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and cocktails.

"A Wonderful Island Resort with Some of the Best Food and Service I have Ever Experienced"
I am a seasoned traveler and spend more time traveling than staying at home. I love unique and inspiring experiences. If you are like me, you will love Ray Caye. The staff is soooo friendly and accommodating. They will bend over backwards day or night to make you happy. You can tell that they really enjoy the guests. The food was not just great it was exceptional, and I had two breathtaking dives and a great snorkeling trip. I believe it’s one of the best islands in Belize. TripAdvisor – Daven M

In 2019 Hatchet Caye changed its name to Ray Caye. Because of this, some of the older blog posts will refer to Hatchet Caye and the newer ones will refer to Ray Caye. Either way, they are the same private island you have come to love.
