Whale Shark Diving/Snorkeling
Gladden Spit Silk Cayes Marine Reserve comes alive during the month of May and June as whale sharks migrate to this area to mate and feed. Whale sharks are one of the biggest fish found in the Caribbean Sea and can measure up to 41.5 ft and weigh around 47,000 lbs. Divers can enjoy a “once-in-a-lifetime” diving or snorkeling experience, up close with these gentle giant creatures, who are best spotted 4-5 days after the full moon.
June marks the opening of Belize’s lobster season, which is celebrated with one of the countries’ biggest annual event held in three locations – San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker and Placencia Village. Placencia Lobsterfest weekend takes place on June 22-24, and highlights live local entertainment, activities, and lobster galore – any and everything that can be made with lobster can be found at this festival.
