Living on an island in Belize can be an exciting adventure. Self-sufficiency is a necessity at our private island resort, and its guests have managed to enjoy the fruits of its labor.
With the help of our gardener Damiano and his green thumb, Ray Caye can share with its guest freshly grown produce. Our organic garden boasts several vegetables and herbs such as basil, mint, tomatoes, cucumbers, spinach among others. Our onsite restaurant – the Lionfish Grill, prepares tasty meals using some of the local produce grown in our garden.
A three-bed expansion to the garden features cucumbers, cilantro, mint, sweet basil, African basil, tomatoes, cabbage and Bok Choy, grown from seeds that were donated by friends of the resort. Many of our repeat guests have not only brought seeds fo us, but also useful tips to help Damiano along the way.
